Gemini Code Assist, the evolution of Duet AI for Developers
Google announces Gemini Code Assist, the evolution of Duet AI for Developers, now using the latest Gemini models. It offers AI-powered assistance to help developers build applications with greater speed and quality in popular code editors such as VS Code and JetBrains. Gemini Code Assist is an enterprise-grade coding assistance solution that supports the private codebase wherever it resides, whether it's on-premises, Gitlab, Github, Bitbucket, or even across multiple repositories. Built with robust enterprise features, it enables organizations to adopt AI support at scale while meeting security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
"As a Google Cloud Gemini Code Assist launch partner, we are excited to report that we have seen efficiency gains of over 30% through the adoption of LLM-based code acceleration workflows. Gemini Code Assist's time-saving code completion and error resolution features have enabled us to push the boundaries of innovation and productivity." - Asif Hasan, Co-Founder, Quantiphi Inc.
At Next, the main features of Gemini Code Assist were presented:
Full codebase awareness, currently in private preview, allows you to make large-scale changes to the entire codebase, including adding new features, updating dependencies between files, helping with version upgrades, comprehensive code reviews and more. This capability is powered by Google's Gemini 1.5 Pro model, which offers a context window of one million tokens, the largest in the industry.
Code customization, currently in private preview. Companies can connect their private code bases to adapt Gemini Code Assist to help developers provide contextual code generation. In addition, they are providing connections for Gemini Code Assist to access multiple source code repositories, including GitLab, GitHub and Bitbucket.
"Code customization using RAG with Gemini Code Assist significantly increased the quality of Gemini's support for developers in terms of code completion and generation. With code customization in place, we expect a big increase in the overall code acceptance rate." - Kai Du, Director of Engineering and Head of Generative AI, Turing
Integration Services: are expanding the reach of Code Assist with Apigee and Application Integration to seamlessly access and connect applications.
Ecosystem enhancements: Following the ecosystem announcement last December, they are enhancing Gemini Code Assist with data sources and insights from multiple partners today, including Datadog, Datastax, Elastic, HashiCorp, Neo4j, Pinecone, Redis, Singlestore, Snyk and Stack Overflow.
"This historic multi-dimensional AI-focused partnership, which includes Stack Overflow adopting Google Cloud's latest AI technology, and Google Cloud integrating Stack Overflow's expertise into its AI tools, underscores a joint commitment to unleashing developer creativity, increasing productivity without sacrificing accuracy, and fulfilling the social responsibility of AI. By bringing together the strengths of The two companies, it can accelerate innovation across a variety of industries." - Prashanth Chandrasekar, CEO, Stack Overflow
Efficiently manage the application lifecycle with Gemini Cloud Assist
Gemini Cloud Assist helps cloud teams design, operate and optimize the lifecycle of their applications. Gemini's contextual and custom AI guidance comprises Google Cloud resources to help create new designs, deploy workloads, manage applications, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance and costs. Gemini Cloud Assist offers the following capabilities:
Goal-oriented design: Describe the desired design outcome and Gemini Cloud Assist can generate architecture configurations tailored to the needs. It even explains the reasoning behind its suggestions.
Guided operations and troubleshooting: Gemini Cloud Assist diagnoses problems, identifies root causes and recommends solutions, helping you quickly resolve incidents.
Custom optimizations: Whether you prioritize cost savings, performance or high availability, Gemini Cloud Assist identifies areas for improvement and suggests how to achieve the goals.
Gemini Cloud Assist is accessible through a chat interface in the Google Cloud console, and is integrated directly into the interfaces where different cloud products and resources are managed. Gemini Cloud Assist is in private preview.
"Gemini Cloud Assist is helpful in optimizing our Google Cloud environment and helps troubleshoot issues that arise." - Sai Dutta, Enterprise Architect, Ford Motor Company
Elevate the security experience with Gemini in Security
Last year, Google became one of the leading cloud service providers to release AI gen to the market across the board for defenders. Now they are adding Gemini in Security Operations to Chronicle to elevate the skills of security teams and increase their productivity, enabling them to detect, investigate and respond to threats more easily.
A new assisted investigation feature, available at the end of April 2024, converts natural language into new detections, summarizes event data, recommends actions to take, and guides users through the platform via chat conversations.
Gemini in Security Operations allows users to quickly investigate incidents and alerts using chat conversations in Chronicle.
"Gemini in Security Operations is enabling us to improve the efficiency of our Cyber Security Operations Center program as we continue to drive operational excellence." - Ronald Smalley, Senior Vice President, Cyber Security Operations, Fiserv
In addition, Google introduces new AI capabilities across the security portfolio:
Gemini in Threat Intelligence, in public preview, enables access to Mandiant's front-line threat intelligence using conversational searches to gain insight into threat actor behavior in seconds. It also helps users improve the efficiency of their threat research by automating web crawling of relevant Open Source Threat Intelligence (OSINT) articles, ingesting information and providing concise summaries to assist analysts.
Gemini in Security Command Center, summarizes critical and high-priority alerts for misconfigurations and vulnerabilities, and can provide recommendations on how to close potential exploits on simulated attack paths, helping organizations proactively mitigate risk.
Gemini's Security features are built on top of the SecLM API, which helps make Gemini more security-specific.
With Gemini in Security, already many companies like Pfizer are performing complex analysis faster and helping new analysts get on board more quickly, freeing up time for experienced analysts to pursue advanced threats.
As we conclude this installment on the new solutions presented by Google Cloud at the Google Cloud Next event, we reaffirm our commitment at Skytel to integrate these advanced technologies into all of the BPO services and processes we offer our customers. We are excited about the possibilities that Gemini and other Google Cloud tools offer to drive efficiency and innovation in our operations, enabling us to deliver exceptional service and high-quality results to our distinguished clientele.
In the next installment we will look at Gemini in BigQuery, Gemini in Looker and Gemini in Databases.
